A studio, not a brand
People have been asking what Cœura is, and the shortest honest answer is what it isn't. It isn't a jewelry brand. At least not in the traditional sense.
A brand guesses. It decides in January what you'll want in October, makes hundreds, even thousands of a particular style, and spends much of the season using tactics to sell every last piece. I ran a house that way for twenty-five years, and I loved it, and by the end the guessing was the hardest part. I don't want to guess anymore.
So Cœura works the other way around. It's a studio for personal objects. Nothing here exists until someone asks for it. You begin a piece: you tell us the name, the date, the two letters, the night… and then it's made, once, for you. We call that a commission, because that's what it is. You're the Artist. We're your atelier. That's the vision I'm inviting you to share.
As a designer, at this stage in my career, I want to pursue elimination, not excess; I'm crafting from form first, and letting you decide what it's for. We work only in sterling silver and 18K gold vermeil, so our pieces have real value and a long life. Our pieces are understated on purpose, true forms. What I'm making now feels more aligned with who I am on the inside, something I've been looking to do (and have now given myself permission to).
Every piece is made in Bali, by smiths I've trusted for most of my working life. There's no better word for that relationship than the plain one: it's a relationship. Twenty-five years of the same hands, the same bench, the same argument about whether the polish is creamy enough yet. When I say a piece is made by hand, I mean those hands. And I know their names.

Here's what we won't do. We won't mark our custom pieces down, ever, because an object made for you was never a thing to clear. We won't hurry you. No countdowns, no last chances, nothing that chases. Occasionally we'll make a few pieces for a special drop, considered and made in small numbers.
What's left, once you take all that away, is small and quiet and, I think, true. An object, made once. An object that says only what you know to say. And a box that arrives one day with your name on it and the name of the moon it was made under.
Made once. Meant to keep.
